St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

Giving Day 2024

We are delighted to announce that St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School will host its second Giving Day comprising activities on Monday 18th March and on St Joseph's Day, Tuesday 19th March 2024. We are proud that last year, we were the first state primary schools in the UK to adopt this new approach to fundraising and to host a Giving Day event. You can find highlights of the events here

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School opened its doors in 1900 and to this day, we are in the same location in our stunning Grade 2 listed building. The building of St Joseph's was designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, an English architect, designer, artist and critic, chiefly remembered for his pioneering role in the Gothic Revival style; his work culminated in the interior design of the Palace of Westminster.

Preserving the historic features of our heritage property as well as updating the facilities is enormously important. Our aim this Giving Day is to reinvest in our building by improving the heating system and renovating the roof. We need to raise £5,000 in order to do this and we need our community to come together to make it possible. Better facilities have a significant impact on both student learning and teacher effectiveness and warm classrooms will boost the overall school experience for all our students and teachers.

Last year the St Joseph's community showed overwhelming support for our Giving Day and we know that you will continue to support the school and its pupils by getting involved with this year's event. Donating to the It Takes a Village Fund this Giving Day will help us maintain our outstanding facilities for our community and help fulfil the school's vision for the future.

Whilst we will be encouraging donations – which can be made via the school website - Giving Day is not just about fundraising. As a parent, your participation is key and there are many ways in which you can be involved, including:

  • Joining us for our Giving Day coffee morning hosted by the Executive Headteacher, Mrs Wyatt and Mr Stacey, Head of School on Wednesday 20 March from 8.45am in the front garden and hall.
  • Spreading the word amongst friends, family, and fellow parents
  • Following our progress on Instagram, liking, and sharing our posts, or posting using the hashtags #StJosephsGivingDay #ItTakesaVillage
  • Supporting your child taking part in an Own Clothes Day on Monday 18 March (£2 per child)

Thank you in advance for your support. It’s set to be a heart-warming and fun event which we’re sure will show St Joseph’s at its very best.
